2013 Year in Review: Blooper Reel!

Now is the time of year when I become a thoughtful Beagle/Doxie mix. I reflect upon the highs and lows of the year and ruminate on--wait. I'm a dog! I don't really do any of those things. I don't reflect OR ruminate. I basically sleep and eat and chew slippers and bark. I do other charming things too, like cuddle and chase chipmunks, but for the most part, you can find me at the bakery 95% of the time, curled up underneath the oven with dried frosting on my whiskers. Hey, don't judge me.

So with 2014 looming on the horizon, I thought I'd share some of Work Mommy's blooper photos. She's not going to get a dog calendar deal from these beauties, so enjoy!
My Sears catalog pose: acting manly next to a 6-pack of paper towels. Boom!
Brownie Sumara from The Ring: crawling out of the tub and into your VCR
Dexter's "REALLY?" moment: "Brownie's in my bed. DO something."
Nikita walks into the camera lens
This hat is bigger than my head, Work Mommy! Get lost.
It has been a busy holiday season and we all want to thank you for visiting Three Dog Bakery. We've met lots of awesome people and dogs and we wouldn't be here without you! This past weekend, a couple told Work Mommy they drove up to Lake Arrowhead JUST to come to our store! Wasn't that nice?

Well, it's time for me to rest up in preparation for New Year's Eve! I am allowed to stay up late and watch Ryan Seacrest in Time's Square where they drop the giant slipper! Wait. Hold on. I was just told they don't drop a slipper, they drop a ball. Are you sure? What fun is that? Who do I call to get them to drop something useful like a slipper? Wow, that's lame, Ryan Seacrest. L-A-M-E.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, everyone! See you in 2014!

I've Been Good All Year!*

*Well, maybe not all year, but at least yesterday and a couple of days back in July....

Yesterday was my last work day with Work Mommy before Christmas, so she made me go to work even though it was freezing out and "snaining"--a combination of snow & rain--and all I wanted to do was stay under the covers all day.

Anyway, she wanted to give Nikita & me our Christmas presents! First, she served us the special cake she made us, saving a couple of pieces for Dexter who had the day off. I made sure to eat mine really slowly, savoring each bite, delicately nibbling each morsel....
I'm thinking of that famous quote by Miss Piggy: "Never eat more than you can lift"
Then it was time for presents! Nikita opened hers first. It was a special holiday hat! I may have accidently on purpose eaten Nikita's special pink party hat on her 14th birthday, so Work Mommy wanted her to have something festive to wear on Christmas.
Nikita is so happy! She loves hats as much as I love slippers!
I opened my present and I didn't know what to do. It was slippers! Slippers of my very own to chew or hide or shred to my heart's delight. It smelled like a set-up. I eyed Work Mommy suspiciously and then Real Mommy put me in the slippers. Was this a trap? I'm still not sure if there's going to be a stake-out to prove I'm the slipper-shredder at home. They'll never catch me!
Nikita photobombed my special moment!
I hope all of you have a wonderful Christmas surrounded by family and friends, furry and non-furry. May your holiday be filled with love, gratitude and cake! See you all soon!

Love,
Brownie

Oh Yes It's Local's Night, And The Feeling's Right

Oh what a ni-ight.
I have no idea what song Work Mommy is parodying, maybe you guys do.

This doesn't happen very often, but all three of us Three Dogs were at the bakery today. Dexter's mommy had the day off and needed to go shopping, so she dropped Dexter off so he could work with us while she was out. I wasn't sure what would happen with the new bed, which is technically Dexter's, especially with him there, but I think we worked it out.
Excuse me, can I get some help here? Someone's in my bed
We had lots of visitors today, but one of Work Mommy's favorites is Matilda. She comes in every day and does tricks to get a cookie. She shakes hands, rolls over and speaks! I don't do anything for a cookie. I just look at Work Mommy and use my charm. Anyway, Matilda had a special Christmas costume on today--she was a Sugar Plum Fairy!
Covergirl! Do a twirl!
The Mommies are super excited for Christmas and they put up a new tree, covered in donation tags you can use to help rescue dogs like Chopper & Peanut! You remember them, right? (http://reallybrownie.blogspot.com/2013/11/thats-what-friends-are-for.html) Just pick an amount you want to donate, grab the corresponding tag, and bring it up to my mommies to make your donation. Then, sit back and feel good about yourself and all you do to help us puppies! Why, you deserve a bon bon or an eggnog! Go ahead, I won't tell.
We want this tree naked by Christmas!
Work Mommy spent the rest of the afternoon frosting special Christmas tree cakes. This may have been the only time in the history of, well, me, that I didn't beg for frosting, or cookies, or Work Mommy's lunch. I was afraid I'd lose my spot as Top Dog on Dexter's bed! I didn't even go out to pee. That bed is seriously comfortable, yo. Anyway, I thought I'd show you our special cake. I have to share it with my sister and Dexter, but I'll bet Work Mommy gives me the biggest piece. There are perks to being the famous dog of the bakery...
I have to share? Really?
I can't believe there are fewer than 2 weeks until Christmas! I hope you have all your shopping done. If you want my advice, that special person in your life probably needs new slippers. Lots and lots of slippers. You can never have too many slippers.

XOXO,
Brownie

White Christmas? Really?

Okay, I love a white Christmas as much as the next dog, but really? REALLY? We had a cold spell hit us here at Lake Arrowhead like a 2x4 upside the head! We got rain and snow and cold and now, bitter cold wind! It's been so cold, I didn't even want to get out of bed. Oooh, speaking of beds, Dexter's Mommy bought him a new bed and fuzzy blanket to keep at the store so he'd stop wrecking the piles of towels the Mommies use to clean. Dexter's new bed is really cozy, so I may have sneaked a tiny little nap in it on his day off.
Don't tell Dexter!
So last week, I was busy being asleep, when some important-looking people came into the store. They were representatives from Tim Donnelly's office (CA Assembly-R.) and wanted to give me an award! ME! I mean, maybe it had a little to do with my mommy supporting a Designated Driver program, but I think I was the main draw here. They wanted to thank ME, and take pictures with ME, and then they gave ME this certificate!
Don't drink and drive....or eat slippers
After all that excitement, it was time to get back to work. It's almost Christmas! The busiest time of the year! Mommy is making sure she has enough sweaters and coats and booties for all the good dogs out there and Work Mommy is baking treats and stocking the shelves. Everyone at the store is asking for donations for rescue dogs this Christmas who don't have a home yet. If you want to contribute a dollar or 2, that would be great! Santa will be leaving special discounts under the tree for you if you help. If you want to support Lake Arrowhead Village merchants, come visit us on Locals Night, Dec. 12th! We're open until 8 p.m. that night--that's pretty late for me. I like to be snuggled into the couch at home by 7, wedged up against Daddy and Nikita for maximum warmth. I hope you stop by!

Until then, I'll be dreaming of a white, slightly warmer, Christmas...

Slumber Paw-ty!

My slumber party with Lucky has come to an end. He went home to his family after a fun-filled week with me--eating slippers, gossiping about all the cute dogs at the dog park, doing each other's nails and fur, playing practical jokes on the cat....you know, the usual sleepover stuff.
Buddies forever
We had a busy Black Friday weekend (thanks for coming out, everyone!) and by busy, I mean I stayed home and slept while Mommy, Work Mommy, and Aunty Lisa worked at the store. I felt like I was doing my part, though:  I managed to dig a bunch of receipts out of Mommy's work bag and shred them so she'd have no idea of this year's sales compared to last year's. Hey, I'm just cutting down on your paperwork, Mom, so you're not so stressed. You're welcome!
Shhhhh....

Oh! Before I forget! I've had a a bunch of people ask about my awesome blue track sweater that zips up the back. You can ask my Mommies to special order it for you--it's not a problem, really. It's super cozy and stylish, plus it's easy to put on so I don't have to get stuffed into it like some sort of weird shoving-the-cream-back-into-a-Twinkie experiment. Want another peek?
I know. I'm adorable. (Special order sweater at tdb@threedogbakeryarrowhead.com)
I'll see you all tomorrow!
XOXO
